Norway’s defence budget rises sharply – but equipment investment falls
Spending on equipment investments is set to decline, while a large share of the total increase is directed towards operations, infrastructure and continued support for Ukraine
The Norwegian government presented its proposed state budget on Wednesday, 7 October.
The proposed defence budget would increase by NOK 11.9 billion in nominal terms compared with 2026, equivalent to 6.6 percent. The total budget amounts to NOK 191,7 billion.
However, the proposal does not translate into higher overall equipment investments.
